Maidenhead SQL Server User Group – Tuesday 6th December

18:00 – 18:30 – Registration, Intro, Round Table discussion, Nuggets etc.

18:30 – 19:20 – Session 1 – David Morrison: The Dark Arts-a.k.a Performance Tuning, indexing and query plans.

In this session, rather than a traditional look at “query tuning” I will challenge some of the common misconceptions around tuning queries. It will also go into some detail around why sometimes the query optimiser chooses “odd” plans which perform poorly and how to help the optimiser choose a better plan. It will also take a brief look at SARGability, indexing and “inverse predicates” The session will mainly be held in management studio.19:20 – 19:40 – Sponsor session19:40 – 20:10 – Break20:10 – 21:00 – Session 2 – Chris Webb:Common SSAS Design Mistakes And How To Avoid Them
